As we reported some days ago, CubeSats were eventually launched to accomplish the mission they were entrusted to. After a short delay, the Vega rocket took off February 13th, and at that very moment, not only the teams but also radio amateurs from all over the world stared at the sky waiting for news.
Well then, the Spanish satellite XaTcobeo sent the first data while flying over the University of Vigo's ground station. It seemed that batteries were charged and the telemetry system was working properly. Shortly after, a radio amateur based in Florida assured having received data from the Hungarian Masat-1, though this team's ground station didn't receive anything till two hours later. Polish PW-Sat could also be heard.
Unfortunately, not all the groups suffered the same fate and some of the teams, such as the French or Romanian didn't receive more than feeble signals shortly after the launch, so they had to wait for longer till the batteries got enough energy.
