NASA's general inspector, Paul K. Martin, presented a report to the U.S.Congress in which he revealed that, in 2011 NASA's systems suffered a major attack that would have allowed the hackers to get a "full control" of NASA's computers with access to confidential material. Specifically, the attack was focused on the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). The IP of the authors of the attack is from China.
NASA has some of the most technologically advanced facilities in the world and inside its systems there is stored sensitive information. Its facilities include top security measures and it seems that the whole organization is protected with some of the most advanced security techniques available nowdays. However, it seems that their computer network is not as solid as it should be.
