Iran wants its piece of cake

Iran shows its spacial potential by modifying one of their powerful Shahab-3 ballistic missiles, in order to blast a satellite to space. As regional news reports say, there would have been some experimental testing satellites to analyse the success probability before the definitive launch was made. This is the third satellite Iran launches. The day before Safir was launched was the two-year anniversary of their first satellite, Omid.

The rocket is an upgraded version of the Shahab-3. It has enough power to cover the incredible distance of 800 miles. Its design is not original, as the Shahab-3 has some North Korean and Russian ascendants.

The Navid satellite was built by students at Sharif University of Technology. Its primary mission might be from collecting weather data, to capture high definition pictures of the Earth surface or monitor natural disasters.

By the way, Iran has also decided to continue with the CanSat competition. You can learn more about their Competition on their official web page.
