Telescopes Herschel and XMM-Newton photographed for the first time inside the Eagle Nebula

The telescopes of the European Space Agency (ESA) have been obtained one of the first images of the cloud of dust and gas inside the Eagle Nebula, a hotbed of star located about 6,500 light years from Earth.

The images make it possible to find new stars in a region much larger and thus reach a wider knowledge of the creative and destructive forces operating within the Eagle Nebula.

This is a photograph obtained by telescopes Herschel and XMM-Newton.

The new images from Herschel, with long-wave infrared, allowing astronomers to see the inside of the pillars and structures in this region, which may extend their hunt for new stars in one of the most unknown areas the universe and located in the constellation Serpent.

The XMM-Newton of short wavelength infrared, proof that these young stars are responsible for the carving of the pillars of creation.

These consisted of a giant pillar of gas tubes formed from a photo-ionization process because of the presence of nearby massive stars.

Astronomers believe that disappeared about 6,000 years ago, due to the shock wave generated by the explosion of a supernova.

However the great distance that separates the Eagel Nebula from the Milky Way might not allow seeing the pillars dispelled.
