Throwable Panoramic Ball Camera

I was surfing the Internet the other day when I came across this curious ball. Take a look at it.

Jonas Pfeil, http://jonaspfeil.de/ballcamera

As you may see, it seems to be a puzzled ball with no symmetry or definite form. Well, this patent pending ball comes to be an intelligent way to build 360 degree panoramic photos with almost no effort. As the inventors say,
In this work, we present a throwable panoramic camera that solves these problems. The camera is thrown into the air and captures an image at the highest point of flight - when it is hardly moving. The camera takes full spherical panoramas, requires no preparation and images are taken instantaneously. It can capture scenes with many moving objects without producing ghosting artifacts and creates unique images.they present a throwable panoramic camera that solves the problems of building extra panoramic photos, near to the human range of view.

This ball uses 36 fixed-focus 2 megapixel mobile phone camera modules which take a picture when the ball is thrown up. After catching the ball down, pictures are downloaded via USB and the spherical viewer makes it possible to interactively explore the environment.

Here you have an explanatory video showing what this ball can do:
